Crochet Clinic

Wednesdays    1-2pm*

 Do you want to learn to crochet or need a refresher?  Have a crochet pattern you've always wanted to make but don't know where to start? Join master crocheter Lindsey Stephens for Crochet Clinic. Lindsey will answer all your crochet related questions to help you start, make progress on, and/or complete the projects you've always dreamed of.  All skill levels welcome.  Please register at least one week in advance of each class


Register now for April 15, 22, May 20 & May 27, 2026 classes.  $25. ea.*

Crochet Clinic

Tunisian Crochet for Beginners

Wednesday May 27, 2:15-3:15  $25.


Ready to add a new technique to your maker toolbox? We’re hosting a Basic Tunisian Crochet workshop and we’d love to see you there! Often  described as a mix between knitting and traditional crochet, Tunisian  crochet creates a unique, dense fabric that’s perfect for blankets,  scarves, and cozy home decor. In this class, you’ll learn: 

  • How to cast on and off.
  • The "Forward" and "Return" pass.
  • The Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS).
  • How to choose the right hooks and yarn for your projects.

Whether you're a crochet pro or a total novice, this class is designed to be relaxed, fun, and beginner-friendly.


For class you will need a J Tunisian hook and a smooth light color worsted weight yarn.  Materials are available at New England Yarn.

Looking for help with a stubborn stitch, does a new technique have your teeth clenching or do you need help translating the alphabet soup that knitting patterns can often resemble?


Let Dawn, The Stitching Coach guide you through challenging techniques such as texture, lace, cables, slipped stitches and colorwork. Join your fellow knitters for tips, tricks and company, and remember to pick up your supplies at New England Yarn.

Sweet & Simple: Long-Eared Bunny Needle Felting Workshop

Saturday May 16, 2026  9-11am

Spring is in the air, and what better way to celebrate than by crafting your own fuzzy companion? Join us at New England Yarn for a morning of creativity as we host our Needle Felted Long-Eared Bunny Class.

This beginner-friendly workshop focuses on the art of sculpting wool with special needles to create a sweet, personality-filled bunny. Whether you've never touched a felting needle or are looking for a fun new project, this class is the perfect creative getaway.  

* Cost: $30 (Includes all the roving you’ll need!)


What to Bring:

To complete your bunny, please bring your own felting needles. If you don't have any yet, don't worry! We have a great selection of needles available for purchase right here at the shop—we recommend picking them up before the class starts so you're ready to poke and play.

We can’t wait to see what adorable bunnies you create!

Needle Felted Bunny

Toe Up Lace Sock

Tuesdays June 16 & 30, 2026  3:30-5:30


Cast on a pair of socks you will wear all summer long.  Using the Harcourt Sock Pattern in the book Custom Socks,  you will learn how to cast on for toe-up, wrap & turn heel, and an easy to remember lace pattern suitable for your first lace or sock project.  All participants must bring a copy of Custom socks by Kate Atherley to the class.  This book is available for purchase at New England Yarn.

$75. for two 2-hour classes.


You will also need: 100 grams fingering  weight yarn and needles for your preferred method of knitting in the round in a size that will correspond to the recommendation on the ball band.


For more guidance on gauge and swatches for the project please refer to pg .26 in Custom Socks.  


Skill level: Adventurous beginner, must know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off.  $75.

Short Row Confidence

Wednesdays in July, 1:30-3:30

$25. each class. (call us 860-426-1006  if you would like to register for all 5 classes for $100.)


Short Rows are a technique used to shape knitting, often at the back of the neck or a shoulder of a cardigan or pullover, and in sock knitting. Never again let short rows prevent you from attempting a pattern.  You will gain confidence and muscle memory with each class. This great stash-busting series will help you master this useful knitting technique used in shaping and colorwork.


 Choose as many sessions as you like to discover your favorite method.  Using the Leftie Shawl pattern will allow you to compare techniques, and works as a bandana or a shawl.



Skill level: Advanced Beginner.  You should be able to cast on, knit and purl in order to take these classes.

Can't make it to the Shetland Islands for the famous Wool Week festival in September? Neither can we, but you can play armchair traveler and join the annual world-wide Knit-A-Long of the official 2026 Wool Week hat. New England Yarn has the official kits, while supplies last.  Students should be comfortable knitting in the round and have some experience with simple colorwork with at least two colors. Let Dawn, The Stitching Coach, guide you through the always distinctive Fair Isle patterns featuring six colors, pattern and chart reading, managing floats and loads of tips and tricks. Zoom option available if you are unable to join us in person. 


Skill level: Adventurous Beginner-Intermediate


Pre-class homework: Cast on and work up to the ribbing. 


$80. for 5 hours instruction

Needles for knitting in the round as specified in pattern.

Shetland Hat

Perfect Your Seams

Do  you feel that your knitting looks slapped together rather than  professionally seamed? In this class you will learn how to invisibly  seam two knitted pieces together.  You will leave this class with the confidence that you know how to seam properly.   


Before class, please make 2 approx. 4"x4" swatches in stockinette stitch and 2 swatches (as above) in garter stitch.  You may use any solid light colored yarn that you have left over from projects, but each set of two swatches should be made from the same yarn.

Make Your Own Class

   Private  classes are available for Learn to Knit, and for assistance with a  particular technique, pattern or project.  Private crochet lessons are  also available.  We'll try to work with your schedule, scheduling  outside of normal store hours when possible.   

Class Policy


Please register at least one week prior to scheduled class.   Registration is not complete until payment is received.  

If we have less than 3 students registered for a group class you will be offered the option of a refund or you may take the class at the teacher's private class rate.

Refunds will be not be given after the registration deadline unless our class minimum is reached.

If a class is canceled due to dangerous weather conditions we will reschedule the class. If we cancel a class for any other reason you will receive a full refund.

Your continued support by purchasing class materials from New England Yarn & Spindle is appreciated and allows us to keep our class rates stable.
